Aperol Spritz

I’m not someone who loves to cook, occasionally I like to bake, however, I’m pretty much always down to make a cocktail. I love drinking them, making them and must admit, miss ordering overpriced cocktails in the city.

Since we aren’t going out a lot these days, Julian and I have really leaned into making cocktails at home. This summer, our drink of choice has been an Aperol Spritz. We went to Italy last fall and really enjoyed drinking them throughout our trip.

A Spritz is the perfect summer drink, not too sweet, but very refreshing. If you are new to Aperol, it can be a little bitter (in a good way), but the Prosecco adds just enough sweetness without being overkill.

Ingredients:

Aperol

Prosecco

Club Soda or Sparkling Water

Slice of Fresh Orange

This is a really easy cocktail to make. It is made up of three ingredients poured over a glass of ice and garnished with an orange wedge. No fancy equipment needed. Most commonly, a Spritz is equal parts Aperol and Prosecco. However, I tend to like mine with 1 part Aperol to 2 parts Prosecco. Top off with a splash of club soda or sparkling water and enjoy!

Helpful Tip:

I have found that small cans of plain sparkling water or club soda are the perfect size to have on hand. Not only is it the ideal amount for two people, but you can avoid wasting half a bottle of sparkling water or club soda if you don’t use all of it in one sitting.

Cheers!
